What will happen to me if I am convicted of a DUI?

I was recently charged with drunk driving. I want to contest in court, but I am worried that I might receive a harsher sentence if I do. What is the best way to go about this?

Your best bet is to hire an attorney who handles DWI cases. While I will never say something will never happen, from my experiences in the counties I work in, a judge will not punish you more for challenging your case. It is your constitutional right to make the state prove their case. You are innocent until they can prove otherwise. With that being said, if you represent yourself you will have almost no chance of winning in court. Call an attorney for help.
