How does a DUI impact someone with misdemeanor charges?

I have misdemeanors on my record, and I got pulled over last night for a drunk driving. I have been talking to some friends, and they say that I am going to be punished more severely because of my record. I had some misdemeanors on there, but they are over 10 years old. Is this true?

It should not change your sentencing unless your previous crimes were DWI's. DWI's have their own unique sentencing guidelines apart from every other misdemeanor. There are certain aggravating factors that the state or judge can use at sentencing. 20-179 lays them out if you want to go over them. You should talk to an attorney in your area and address the charges head on.
